  My Poems

Humble Pie

An acrostic poem by Beverly Stock.

Humility, you level my ego.

Under your spell, my words are more grateful.

My self worth is strong yet evenly tempered.

By Learning from you, I have a better soul.

Like you, I exercise dignity.

Everyday, I celebrate modesty.

Please hold me steadfast.

Invest in my appreciation.

Every day offered, I’ll celebrate.

An acrostic poem is a type of poetry where the first, last or other letters in a line spell out a particular word or phrase. The most common and simple form of an acrostic poem is where the first letters of each line spell out the word or phrase.

Beverly Stock is an American poet living in St. Louis. Her work has been published on ClassicalPoets.org, at theChainedMuse.com, and on the Webzine Lighten Up Online.
