Herring Heroes

The kipper rich, the herring poor,

English breakfast esprit de corps,

Classy kippers some call salmon,

Same fish, for elite consumption.

Preparations can be fickle,

Cold-smoked, salted, or quick pickle,

Kipper, salmon or a herring,

Far, far from the Straits of Bering.

It’s Herring Heroes that give their all-

A split and gutted overhaul!

Eggs and herring are then combined

So English Breakfasts are served on time.
